The 2nd Auction

Keep in mind that pigeons of this Second Auction have overcome all the adversities of this edition.

The auction will end after 21pm. of the next 23/11/2014, with intervals of 2 minutes between pigeons, at except replicas. Only 31 pigeons.

Finally, remember that every pigeon you win in this the auction, you may also register it to 1000 km, if that is your desire, upon payment of your registration.

Pigeon Market Kassel and Auctions

After returning from the International Pigeon Market in Kassel, we have a few days of relaxation needed to prepare ourselves for the next Derby Cordoba season, including auctioning the remaining pigeons. This includes pigeons that have been made by top breeders available.

There will be a series of auctions and we hope you will like it. Maybe you can enhance your breeding stock or a sports fan make happy with a gift for Christmas with a dove.

Each auction will be open for 7-10 days and not more than 30-35 pigeon per auction, so you can check in calm the pedigrees and performance from the pigeons.

The final week

Congratulations to the pigeons, they have provided all a very good performance.

The finale on 3rd. October was a very special finale. There were visitors from Australia., Spain, Germany, and Austria.

The first pigeons arrived at 13:22 and 10 at once. All 10 pigeons deserve the utmost respect and all other who came after mostly alone. For the pigeons, but also for the participants, spectators and for us, it was a very challenging  racing season, with ups and downs.

Participants can now choose between two options an auction or activation.
You can either use the pigeon for auction, with sale proceeds of 50% to you
or,
Activate the pigeon for the long distance 1000 km for the next year. The participation fee is 150 EUR.

The diagnosis of pigeon

Received diagnostic laboratory pigeons Vet Don Guillermo Barrallo, we put at your disposal HERE.

Following their recommendations, on Monday were treated with Levamisole. It also concludes that the airways are only mildly affected and may be by sudden changes in temperatures in recent days, and does not recommend treatment.

Samples were taken last day 25/09 of 16 different randomly chosen pigeons, to 8 pigeons were taken from mouth swabs and other 8 pigeons cloacal swabs. The feces were taken of all the lofts, all according to the Don Guillermo indications.

In the opinion of Don Guillermo Barrallo and Don Juan Perales (both veterinarians), find an analytic where all parameters measured are zero, especially after the return of a race, it is an exception.

Today is the basketing for the final race of this edition.

Laboratory results Veterinary

Yesterday we received the laboratory results from the Veterinary D. Guillermo Barrallo which you can find HERE.

The recommendation by the veterinary is to be treated from Monday to the pigeons with levamisole. The airways are only mildly affected and can be created by the sudden change of the temperatures in recent days, here he recommends no treatment.

Samples were taken on 25.09.2014 of various pigeons randomly selected. And there are various swabs and feces taken from the loft.

Today, the pigeons will be basket for the final. We wish all participants good luck!

Because of the unusual development of the derby this year, we have to make ourselves more resolutely 3 Awards for 2015 for the participants of this year 2014

The 1st Ace-pigeon De Postin on 3 flights (First flight 140 Km and 2 more than 200 Km) wins the pigeon which flew the lowest time on all three flights.

The first ace team on three flights (First flight 140 Km and 2 more than 200 Km) wins the team, where the first pigeon from the team on each flight scores.

These flights all take place before the finale, thus each one increased chance of winning.

The first pigeon of the participants from 2014, that scores first in the final 2015.

We would like to announce once again that these awards are only for participants who have already participated this year in 2014 and an equal or participate with a larger number of pigeons in 2015.

The detailed development on the basis of this decision and competitions are posted on the website on next 1st November 1st in the participants rules of the basic rules.

Controversy in prizes

Since we published the final list of prizes, we have received different opinions, two of them being the most repetitive.

We put here the twoo questions:

1.- Why the value of the prizes, no go up even more you?
Ask that coming from participants with pigeons in race.

2.- Why it has increased the amount of awards?

Ask that coming from participants that not now have pigeons in race.

We have carefully analyzed the two positions and each has its reason.

The firsts by that see little prize for editing, which undoubtedly is the most unusual of the seven held and which hopefully will never more be repeated.
The seconds that for reasons unrelated to the quality of their pigeons, they now not have the option of win.

The other day say us "Whatever we do, it will never be liked by all" to right or wrong this is so.

We recall that the awards published are over the provisions of the basis of the Race Fuego, that unfortunately and  by reasons known, be the race that will be held next October 3.

Well, this time we have found a Solomonic decision, which please to all parties involved:

1.- Those who have not said anything (mostly)
2.- Those which have notified us that by an unexplained year, we continue to have to them
3.- Those who are in favor of raising the prizes
4.- Those now they no have pigeons
5.- Those who have sent other opinions and finally
6.- The organization (the more interested on satisfying of all)

In 1 or 2 days we will publish the details of our decision, we can only anticipate that we will spend a minimum of € 3,000 in fixed prizes.

How have they answered today?

Here you have a photo essay showing the climatic condition during the return trip of today. The photos are by order from Porzuna until arrival in the province of Córdoba.

Update flights

In the flight previous, two pigeons came touched by predatory bird and missed 5 of 198 released, 4 were of recovered from other flights and 1 that always traveled all right. Thus, we describe the flight as good. 

Observe that is being frequent that each week some  pigeon lack, it is because there are attacks of raptors around of loft. 

Tomorrow the weather can be complicated, so do not rule postpone the flight if necessary.

This week there are no pigeons wounds, the 02010702 was the end sacrificed.

What is next?

I would first like to report that on the last race, unlike other races of this year, the pigeons that came on the third day looked very bad, so they have flown a lot. The proportion of injured pigeons is very high this year.

From the heart, I say that this year is very much going wrong, much more than you can imagine.

I've spent the last few nights without sleep much time, again and again I think about what happened and am very disappointed with the results, but I am convinced that it is completely independent of the shape of the pigeons and quality. I affirm again the pigeons this year have the best of health conditions.

I want to let you know, everything we do or decide, is for the benefit of the pigeon.

Since many participants have already booked a ticket and a hotel room for the final, we do not want you to visit an empty loft.

There are changes and new decisions have been made​​. Not all decisions can be right for everyone, to the pigeon sport is far too multifaceted.

1. Deletion of the Race Diablo (500 Km) and of course the activation of 40 € per pigeon.

2. Change the race plan, and the finale of the race Fuego to put on the 3rd of October.

A untypical Derby 2014

Yes, with 40 years experience, we have suffered, like many other fanciers also, many hard flights, almost all know the reason for such a disaster, without the truth is taken into account (bad weather, high winds, flight crosses with Portuguese pigeons and on the ascending and descending air).

As you know, the race is called Derby Cordoba Ruta del Infierno (Route to Hell), for two reasons, the rugged topography and the high temperatures with abrupt weather changes.
Now it is 18° C and in three or four hours are 40° C and more.

The highest temperature we ever had for a race was 2005, with 450 km and 44º C. On the first day we got only two pigeons to home, but on the second day at 12 o´clock we had about 50% of the pigeons at home.

This year the racing season results in Andalusia were spectacular in the spring, but by the end of June, all the clubs had heavy flights.

We can only say that the pigeons receive our best care, attention, training and experience of 40 years, where we received many awards at regional, national and international level. We also learn new things every day with the pigeons and their health.

So even though this is not our year, we will continue, with the danger of losing many more pigeons. But if we have learned something from the pigeon sport that every year, every liberation and every place is different, but it goes on and on. Those which are remain constant are successful in pigeon racing.

We appreciate the feedback and suggestions we have received from many participants.

Consolación, 205 KM

My oldest daughter and I arrived to the liberation point at 6:30 a.m. The day started clean and sunny. From 7 a.m. to 8 o´clock the pigeons got water. When we liberated the pigeons are flown in a group at 19 ° C temperature. I was happy with the liberation.

At 11:15 a.m. I arrived at the Derby Cordoba loft, there waited Antonio Jimenez and my brother Jose. Almost half an hour later, the first four pigeons came from far up in the sky with head wind and the temperatures grow up higher and higher than expected up to 30 ° C. After 25 pigeons arrived, the pigeons came only very severally.

Although today the maximum temperature of 38 ° C have been exceeded by up to 3 ° C, and can not be compared with similar races and liberations at the same distance and temperatures for that result. To 21:00 clock the air was very hot.

The last three pigeons arrived as we were present, we have analyzed the pigeons by hand, and they had no signs of defects.

What happened?

The hot air was blowing towards the south (head wind), the pigeons were forced to rest, so that they arrive tomorrow in the morning freshness. But after this year, I dare not predict anything.

Well, I'm driving all night and tried to rest at noon, unfortunately I could not rest after this flight result. Tomorrow is a new day.

Survivor - Oil fields

Survivor

After years we receive pigeons of the races which are coated with oil from the oil fields. We have developed a cleaning system, which clean the pigeons very fast and they can continue to race.

They go through a three-part cleaning process to get back a good plumage.

After drying, they are again fully fit to participate further in the competition.

The oil fields

Andalusia has many oil fields, we estimate for each area there is an oil field. While Cordoba and Jaen have far more than the rest of Andalusia.

The oil fields are a double-edged sword because on the one hand, the upper layer of water quenches the thirst of our beloved pigeons, while they fly several hours. On the other hand there are many who are caught in the mud and also can not rid of it, or swallow the oil.
